Same reason many guys don't want to get a massage from a guy...they're afraid of the whole gay thing...more comfie with the opposite sex. Yeah, guys are weird.
Not really. Growing up I mostly went to a female doctor as a pre-teen and teen. It's just a comfort level built over the years. Now as a fully fledged adult I have had male doctors for about 5-8 years or so since I know they can better address and relate to my health issues.
I have a male doctor that I go to but I'm having second thoughts. I'm thinking about using a female doctor. I'm in a 30s. Is this a non issue?
only maybe if he's a friend/tennis partner opponent/running partner, someone I socialize with, etc....but physicians have seen it all and one patient to the next becomes blurred -
After having prostate cancer and having to go through DRE and then biopsy, removal and catheter, I don't care! I guess growing up when middle school and high school had to take showers in the open shower room cured me of any modesty. Now, going to Planet Fitness a few times a week, I am always amused at the "towel dance" that these younger guys(millennials) perform. That doesn't mean that I stroll around nude and "advertise" but, get real! I get dressed and leave!
As far as docs, I have had male doctors examine my privates in a regular physical and I know that they are very "sensitive" to malpractice suits and are not willing to risk their career and reputation for a quick "thrill".
Many years ago when establishing myself as a patient at my current large medical center, I was told I could see a male OB-GYN right away or wait 6 weeks for an appt. with a female PA. I opted for the female. I have had several over the last 30 years, all female, all PA's (or NP's), all excellent. No regrets. Right now my only male doctor is my cardiologist.
Some teachers have no children and they know a lot about rearing children.
Many parents have several kids and a lot of experience and know nothing about rearing children as well. Another topic though.
