because the lean & low fat propaganda has been around for 45 years...... you hear it all over the tv movies and media...cut down on meat and fats...they dont say nothing about sugars and carbs...sugars are the real food demon not meat not fats..
and the malnourished vegans and peta wackos keep the anti meat propaganda going...
follow the money the big companies that utimately pay the salaries of news reporters are the big cereal and food companies...
Don't worry, the pendulum will swing on carbs too - give it 5-10 years. Nothing is "the demon" - moderation in all things.
They believe it because there really are studies that say that.
The problem is there are also studies that that say the opposite and other studies that are equivocal and muddy the waters even more. There are hunches based on better data
Studies, schmudies. Studies are IMO a great way to keep financing your career while contributing nothing but confusion and angst to the general population who still believes ANY of these studies.

Butter bad. Butter good.
Whole milk bad. Whole milk good.
Eggs bad. Eggs good.
Believing studies good. Believing studies bad.
Part of the problem is bad interpretation (simplistic, narrow) by amateurs in the media and otherwise online. Just because eggs are "good" or "bad" for one disease doesn't mean they're good or bad for EVERY disease. Everyone says the human body is so complex and are in awe, but they sure don't understand that when it comes to them wanting black and white medical advice!
There is no miracle food or drink that will cure every disease and allow you to live forever and there is no demon food that will cause you to die 20 years early (outside of a true poison - no, that doesn't include sugar ).

Red wine good. Red wine bad. Don't forget this one too!
Of for Gods sake- every other minute it's no eggs, eggs, no milk, milk, coffee, no coffee, red wine, no wine...
It's ridiculous in general. From anyone.
Next up? Oxygen.

Thanks to you all for these truthful and yet accurate common sense replies.
Too busy eating my Sunday breakfast of potato/egg omelette with a side of bacon. It's a treat for me.
This study is virtually useless since it doesn't control for other factors such as: the rest of these individuals' diet, family history, other health behaviors such as exercise, age, weight, etc.
It's also a very broad study of people from all walks of life IN CHINA. Americans have very little in common with the typical Chinese person in terms of diet, work habits, exercise, exposure to pollutants, or chemicals in our food products, etc. The typical Chinese diet doesn't contain nearly the amount of meat in the western diet, and the proteins will be from different sources, and may be raised on completely different feeds, additives like hormones and anti-biotics, etc . They also consume vastly different quantities of fish, rice, different vegetables, condiments, etc. Who knows how their eggs are produced in China? Do they produce them in giant factory farms where they feed them diets full of hormones to make them lay more eggs, like they do in America? Just not a very well-designed study to apply to other cultures.
cage free are great if you can afford $4 a dozen or there about. We used to get them until the local chicken farmers started raising the price out of line for us. We do love our eggs and if one is good for us, I should be pretty healthy and somewhat protected from heart trouble cause I eat more than one a day. I guess it is like 1 glass of wine a day is good for you, so I am doing really well cause I have more than one a day.
