I'm assuming the fitbit is fairly accurate. I know when I look at the extended display on my phone, it shows wake and sleep periods. I slept pretty fitfully last night. After 3 am, I was awake as often as I was asleep. I got up at 4:30 am.
I picked 7. Even on the weekend if I try to sleep longer, it is rare I will stay asleep much longer than about 8, so I don’t think I need much more than 7-8 hours. I will only sleep 9-10 if I am sick.
My schedule varies quite a bit so some nights I'll only get 2 to 3 hours of sleep (usually right before farmer's market) then the next day I'll catch up so I'll get 8 to 9 hours. On a normal night I'll get 5 to 6 so I picked 6 hours. If I get much more than that I'll be tired throughout the day instead of awake. Historically I have done quite well on 4.5 to 5 hours. My schedule was a lot steadier back then however.
According to my "Sleep Tracker" app, I average just over 5 hours - but that's factoring in my days off, when I sometimes sleep for over 10! On work days/nights, it's more like 3.5-4 hours. Family trait in my case, as we're all the types who can function on very little sleep.
I've always slept at least 8 hours...9 if I can get it. I'm not the type who is proud of how little sleep they can get by on. Even in college no all night cram sessions.
Seven to nine hours. I'm forcing myself to get up a little earlier
