They also can carry encephalitis.

Go to your MD and make sure the tick is tested.

That isn't a bulls-eye.

But, not everyone gets that - so go to the dr, take the tick and have it tested.

I never even saw the tick bite on me, but I had symptoms within 48 hours of our hike. Exact symtoms, textbook. 104 fever by the 4th day, went to dr, they asked if I had been in tall grass (I had of course) and she immediately prescribed an antibiotic. Amazing how fast it worked.

Lime disease comes today, Cinco de Mayo, or maybe the morning after because so many people have reactions to the small green citrus used to excess with foods and beverages. Or something like that.

Many insurance plans don’t cover testing for tick-born illness which don’t always manifest in the classic bull’s-eye red rash...

Those bites can have long term consequences
I hope yours does not...

As someone who has had Lyme Disease, I implore you to not mess around with this. Go to a doctor and get 30 days of Doxycycline. Now. If the doctor won't do it, find one who will. Even the CDC, who has a dismal record of addressing Lyme disease, now recommends getting antibiotic treatment as soon as a tick bite is discovered, especially in endemic areas, even without a Lyme test (which is horribly innaccurate, even by the CDC's admission. It's also too early to get a positive result anyway). But most docs either aren't aware of that or just choose to ignore it because they don't feel like messing around with Lyme disease since it is a b*tch to treat and is controversial.

Also a quick note, if the doctor refuses, ask them to please document their refusal. Sometimes this magically gets them to change their mind. And don't wait for a test. If the doc wants to test, fine. But note that the test is only about 50% accurate, even less so if you were just exposed. So a negative test doesn't really mean much, which is why the CDC now says to treat anyway.

Less than 50% of people infected with Lyme Disease ever get a bulls eye rash.

How awful. Lyme disease never goes away either. It can be dormant for years and then crop up in a bunch of different ways. Out daughter had a swollen knee. We figured she got it from playing soccer she we went to the orthopedist. He tested her for Lyme. At the same time she started pulling out her hair and acting erratic emotionally. Once she was treated with antibiotics all the symptoms disappeared.
