Absolutely. Dont let someone's anti-doctor attitude influence you into making what may be a fatal decision.

This.

Better safe not sorry in this case.

If a bug bit you (which I highly doubt) you most likely, but possibly not, would have felt it when it happened. Someone else said that they thought it looked like a bruise from the skin in that area being "pinched." Again, if you were pinched hard enough to cause a bruise of that size, you would have noticed it right away, because that would hurt.

Please go see a dermatologist and don't wait!

And please come back here and post after you see the dermatologist and let us know what he/she said about it.

Yes, OP, for your own good, do this NOW!

OP, do you want to bet your life on an anonymous forum?

This.

For the love of gawd, people are already conferring a death sentence on the OP.

The poster SAID he just noticed it a couple of days ago, and is simply wondering if what he's noticed looks familiar to anyone here. Personally, I've seen those kinds of marks after minor trauma such as skin being pinched,
or friction (purpura). That often happens in the elderly, too, as their skin degrades.

Obviously, for a thorough examination and diagnosis, he should see a doctor--people are offering nothing profound there. But it's also possible that this is an acute, benign mark resulting from an injury.

There's no need for doom-and-gloom histrionics.

Truly unbelievable, but this "fear" happens so much.

That's a reasonable plan.

Give me a break -- we're advising the OP that the people posting here are not qualified to say whether it's something to be concerned about or net. Except for vexy who advised the following -- and IS along with her husband a medical professional:

I'm a nurse practitioner and my husband is an internal medicine MD - we both agree with Mike - you absolutely need to see a dermatologist. Please don't wait.
Are you more qualified than vexy and her husband to make a judgement call on whether the OP should go see a dermatologist? What's the error in your professional opinion in the advice vexy gave?

What you've personally seen is irrelevant to a real medical diagnosis for a specific person -- and by the way, purpura can be a sign of a number of life-threatening medical conditions.

How can anyone on the net give qualified answers? Even doctors in real person don't have ALL the answers, believe me, I've lived this one. But it's true pushing so much fear.

Don't look now, but the OP provided a photo for input. The opinion that some think this might be a malignancy is no more valid than that of those who think it might not be.

And, frankly, not only could I not give a fig newton about your being a nurse practitioner, I also question the appropriateness of a supposed medical professional sounding an, as yet, unwarranted alarm instead of trying to allay someone's fears--so don't toss that around for my benefit.

The OP said that he noticed this 2 days ago. There is NO need for him to get to a doctor right away...RIGHT NOW...ASAP...in bold and with 22 exclamation points.

The reasonable response to something he just noticed is to monitoring it for a few days to see if it diminishes. Newsflash: Any doctor who doesn't immediately find it suspicious will do the same--ask the OP about what he's observed, or monitor it, himself. The OP can also make an appointment now, then cancel it if the spot fades.

That's practicable. High drama, is not.
