I have taken this several times. Just not on a regular basis. I have had to take it to lessen a RA flare.

It is prescribed, however, on a long term basis, or however long it can be tolerated.

There is weight gain, and the aspect of your face chaning to what is called, A moon face.

The face can become rounded in shape. Why are you being forced to take this?

Again, I cannot tell of personal exp, only patient exp.

Diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (supposedly)...On Lialda now, alone. Doc says to take this in addition or else I won't get better (I think 10MG once a day). I think not..must be something else without weight gain to help with the inflammtion??

I have had it both intravenously and orally.

I've found it makes me hyperactive, somewhat aggressive and emotional and it severely interrupts my ability to sleep. I also tend to retain fluid while I'm on it and yes, it does seem to affect me with weight gain.
I also get a dry mouth and am more thirsty.

Depending on the dosage these side effects are hightened and I have found that they are more intense when I have the drug intravenously.

I have taken it for tendonitis in my shoulder and soon as I swollowed it I got immediate relief form the pain but I didn't take it long term. Soon as I finished, the pain was back. I didn't have any weight gain from the round of it I took and didn't get that moon face either. 6 months later I got those steroid shots for that shoulder and it increased my appitite so much it made me forget about my diet and I ravished everything in sight, didn't care what I ate as long as I ATE! Oddly enough, I didn't gain but a few pounds and have since lost it.

If it is any help to you, I know several people who have had to take it long term and gained a ton of weight. They have since lost it but it took them both awhile.

I am looking at a Medrol Dose pack I had to take.. Each tab was 4mg ea.

6 the first day, then tapering down to one, on the sixth day. Each day, one tab less than the other.

I am wondering if 10 mg isn't really so bad? Any thoughts out there? Did the dr tell you the duration of the treatment?

I've found the larger the dosage the harder it is to deal with.

My fiance took it for a little bit and after 2 weeks it caused very uncomfortable bloating and stomach discomfort. Come to find out, that is one of the most common side effects of this steroid.
