There are gut bacteria that thrive on meat, too. If you don't eat meat for a while, you may lose most or all of those bacteria and have trouble digesting meat.

great point you bring up. my good gut hates bad food now. my theory is that the bugs that live on the bad food are now too scarce to handle the garbage foods efficiently -- processed food, fast food, breads/other cheap carbs -- those bugs have had a rough couple of years inside me.

bacteria that arent getting what they need move on to greener pastures. they dont hang around to be starved to death
