butterfly, I asked previously if you had other ailments and you answered no.

So now we have anxiety, painful skin and IBS. I ask again, anything else?

Your problems could all be related. This is why I ask.

I control my IBS with "Librax" and went so far as Fennel tea, sourdough bread, very bland diet for weeks to get it under control. Go to Irritable Bowel Syndrome ~ Help For IBS Treatments & Education. I bought the book "Eating for IBS", but needed the meds too.

Good luck!!

I use Digestive Advantage IBS caplets that I get over the counter at Wal Mart. It works well for me.

I am sorry that you have IBS, the problem with IBS is that we don't know what actually cause it. Their were once a study, a few years ago that maybe it was caused by makeup (believe it or not) but it didn't have much scientific basis for it. IBS usually is diagnoses when everything else fails, meaning if is not anything we can find, then is IBS. So people can have IBS for different reasons, it is only known that is a lot more common on woman compared to men (one of the reason for the makeup theory), but to be honest we just dont know what actually cause it (YET).
There is a few medication for it, and you should visit your doctor to see which one would be best for your IBS (if you really have IBS, is not easy to diagnose it.)

Probiotics may improve irritable bowel syndrome

InfoPOEMs
January 2009

Clinical question
Are probiotics beneficial in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome?

Bottom line
This systematic review/meta-analysis of randomized trials found a significant benefit of probiotics (number needed to treat [NNT] = 12) for improving symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Given the frequent difficulty in adequately treating this illness and the generally benign effects of probiotics, clinicians should strongly consider them for their patients with IBS.

To be honest, everybody would benefit from it, not just IBS.
