My Nephrolgyst told me that "Can for Can" soda is far worse than beer, particularly! Diet soda. Problem with alcohol is that people tend to binge and consume multiple units. That is how it becomes more dangerous and toxic to our bodies.

Right on all counts.

Since this thread was started, I have started to consume a little beer (I do still drink wine). I am not a big beer lover and I have to stick to low carb (diabetic) but have read that beer actually has quite a few health benefits especially for women (drunk in moderation of course). The light beers I drink are only about 5 carbs, 99 calories and have a very low aloohol content (I can't even feel it). If someone is only drinking two light beers a day, IMO that is virtually nothing. Now if you are drinking those super heavy craft brews, that is another story.

Yeah, I would say at that level, you run the risk of developing some sort of dependency on alcohol.

I allow myself to drink 2 times a week, MAX...........and no, I do not get staggering, puking drunk.

My dad drank TOO MUCH beer and he slept like a log. The hops in beer promote relaxation and sleep. I don't drink any alcohol anymore..and never drank much beer, but on a hot summer day enjoyed a Dos Equis.

"2 or 3" renders the question meaningless. According to my doctor, the benefit comes from a quantity from one to two, but from the third one on, other effects begin to undo the benefit. So, in his view, two is good and three is bad.

glad I am not the only one that noticed this.

tickyul

I would be more concerned about someone who goes out of their way to only drink a certain number of times a week or only allows themselves to consume a certain amount than someone who enjoys a drink or two each night. I would worry that the first person may sooner or later go over their limit. Someone who stops when they decide they no longer want another drink doesn't have a drinking problem at all in my opinion. Maybe I am seeing it only from the side or a person that does drink 2 or 3 glasses of wine per day. After say a third glass, I don't tell myself, I won't have another because I have to keep to my limit. I just simply have no desire for anymore so I don't have anymore.
