I have read that only 5-10% of Muslims are active Islamists (active violent Jihadists or direct supporters). However...only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How'd that work out again? And there are a hell of a lot more Muslims than Nazis.

How many Germans were actually card-carrying Nazi Party members?
Before Hitler seized power (in 1933) only 850,000 out of 66 million Germans were card-carrying Nazis. After the Nazi seizure of power, there was a big surge in membership. At its peak, Party membership reached 8 million out of 80 million Germans in 'Greater Germany' or about ten percent of the population.
When it came to power in 1933, the Nazi Party had over 2 million members. In 1939, the membership total rose to 5.3 million with 81% being male and 19% being female. It continued to attract many more and by 1945 the party reached its peak of 8 million with 63% being male and 37% being female (about 10% of the 80 million German population).[2][97]
AlJazeera.net, the Al Jazeera Arabic media network web site, recently conducted an online poll asking the question, “Do you support the organizing victories of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria?” Thirty-eight thousand people across the Arab world responded to the poll and a shocking 81 percent of those polled came back with an answer of “Yes.”

A couple of facts about my state:
1. Republicans make up barely 1/4 of all registered voters.
2. In the most recent gubernatorial election, the Republican candidate garnered more than half of all votes and won the election.
These two facts do not contradict each other. And neither do the facts presented above about the Nazi Party.
Surely you are not stating a moral equivalence between the internment of Japanese-Americans and the Rape of Nanking!
Not at all. The people in this country were afraid of Japan and the Japanese, and I'm sure looking at Nanking prior to WW2 scared them to death. It's still not justified, but it is understandable. The Biggotry behind it definitely does not justify the action.
