When the Wasp is located she'll be final one of the fleet carriers that were lost in 1942. The USS Langley was sunk during the Philippines campaign but she had been converted.

Maybe you missed the conclusion: Wasp was found.

The NYT article, while fascinating and well-written, presents the subject as a search. It does not mention that the wreck was found until the final paragraphs.
