She died in September 2003 when she was 101. As a person I have no regard for her, but as a filmmaker and photographer she was brilliant.

I saw that interview too. In fact I have it on DVD. I think Leni was like many a person. She was already a filmmaker, thrust into a historic moment, maybe didn't really know who she was dealing with, maybe did but couldn't resist the glamour and money of the moment, maybe she was a nazi sympathizer, maybe upon Hitler's summons she had no choice - who knows. Whatever the case, she was not a death camp commandant.
