that being said, i believe that cavalry archers (mongols, huns) defeat infantry (romans were mostly infantry, so were much of who the mongols conquered) 99% of the time.
cavalry is just too fast, advantage of surprise as well and very skillful archers. they shoot thousands of arrows at you and break up the front line. then they charge, they are on a ****ing horse charging at you (infantryman) at full speed.

While i agree with that assessment however military Dictator General Aetius and the Romans/Visigoths did stop and defeat Attila and his allies at the ''Battle of the Catalaunian Plains'' in France as Atilla would retreat eastward afterwards and never head west again.
Too bad Aetius didn't overthrow the emperor Valentinian III when he had the chance as the military and it's dictator ''may'' have allowed the empire to last longer than 476.
