The Irish Slave Trade – The Forgotten “White” Slaves – Rasta Livewire

Quote:
They came as slaves; vast human cargo transported on tall British ships bound for the Americas. They were shipped by the hundreds of thousands and included men, women, and even the youngest of children.

We don’t really need to go through all of the gory details, do we? After all, we know all too well the atrocities of the African slave trade. But, are we talking about African slavery?
Interesting article! (Interesting site too.)

Good Link.

However, i love to know where they got the source from for this.

''From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English''

I know Cromwell and his new model army landed in 1649. but 500,000

The "Death Ships".
Old ships packed with people that English chartered with the hope that they would sink in the ocean.
Straight from "Death walls" to "Death ships", treated far worse than African slaves because they weren't worth nothing.
As soon they arrived in New York, they were packed for wars, bought illegaly by white slave merchants to work in the frontier.
They were treated as "heathens" just because they were Catholics...
Irish shouldn't have travelled to Protestant land, but to Latin America, Catholic Europe.

No, I didn't read about Death Ships and Death Walls in Internet.
I lived with a Irish family in Hove and since then I've been curious about "Paddys".
No Internet by then.

So you're saying 500,000 died on the death ships between 1641-1652.

That is insane.

No, of course not.
Death Ships were chartered during the XIXth Century, after the Potato Famine.
Just like Death Walls.
