Good grief, if you really don't think you are capable of finding a wall stud, get yourself a carpenter from CL. You should be able to get someone for $20 an hour (make sure he has references or a license...you don't want just anyone in your house!) and maybe you can find a few other small jobs for him as well. It should take him all of 10 minutes to hang the mirror.

Go to a hardware store and ask them to recommend the appropriate hangars.

EDIT: If you are hanging it over stone, brick, or plaster, that makes a difference. If you put an ad on CL, make sure you give that information!

Even though it may be a 2-person job because of the weight, I could do it myself. But the important part is mounting on studs, not just the drywall, and use extra re enforcements, like extra brackets/hooks. But then, having worked construction, its not hard to find studs.

Are you asking if it CAN be done or if it would look good? Yes, I think it could potentially look great. Something different. You could also hang 3 square wall mirrors in a straight line for a similar effect. This might add some depth to your design.

And if you're asking if you can, yes, you may just have to add the brackets to the back.

Find desired location -- if a stud is available - hang from stud. If a stud is not available use properly rated anchors or toggles.

Sure - requires possible use of a screwdriver or cordless drill, but not terribly difficult stuff.

Now if lifting the 40lb mirror into place is the concern - then make sure you have a couple of people to help.

If your anchor is in securely, and the hardware on the mirror is secure - its not going to randomly fall.

Caveat - assuming you are not in earthquake territory, etc...

Seems like a small job for a handyman, but I'm sure for $50, someone will come out and do anything.
I need someone to hang a 60 x 47 mirror Weighs about 60 pounds can I please get a quote

I like this suggestion. If you hanging on brick, then I definitely would go with a pro.

We have hung heavy things over drywall, but DH finds the studs first. You can find hanging hooks for really heavy things at Michaels or a hardware store.

I have never heard of a mirror hanging expert, but I would contact the nearest big art museum for advice or a recommendation.

Yes, hire a professional, that would be a better option. Off course you can hang the mirror on the wall. It will look stylish and good on the wall instead of the floor. There are many stores from which you can explore the various mirrors in each size.
