I have a small alcove in my wall filled with junk, hardwood floors covered with indian design carpet and an area above the alcove that I could display something. Help. My idea is a nice indian pot on a small carpet hanging out the front down the wall at an angle. I need ideas. Budget tight. If I add a light for back lighting it would need to be battery powered.

Does it have to be American Indian pottery from the southwest? It doesn't seem like there's anything else in the house of that style except for that one rug. And the house style doesn't look SW, very suburbia-traditional.

First thing I would do is take EVERYTHING out of that niche and start with it empty. All that clutter makes it hard to envision anything right now.

It would look great with a large indian pot or vase in that space. Pick one with vibrant color. Don't put a grouping of little things in that little alcove. Pick one large standout piece..

For the area way up high on the wall above, a collection of baskets would look great.
