Attachment 220839 I wanted a vase with flowers for the kitchen so I used what I had, i think it came out pretty good. I still need pillows for the window seat but I am waiting to go shopping. I am using ones from Christmas for now.

I am almost done with plantings for this year. Almost. After eight years of work, our place finally looks like I want it too. I am still a bit unsatisfied with the front, but the back yard is very pleasant. My roses this year are lovely.
I added several perennials and annuals, and switched my herb garden over to pots, stationed at my back door. This is convenient. I planted out my the former herb bed with some interesting perennials, and I hope to be happy and even pleasantly surprised.
We still have planting gaps, but I tell myself that it is so satisfying to find a plant to fell those gaps, and that I will enjoy this as it happens. Thinking of buying a Doublefile Viburnum.
I love viburnums....so much variety. You might consider Summer Snowflake, too. It blooms all season, and it has lovely copper foliage in the fall.

Ok, I have a list of projects I want done this summer. We came into a small inheritance and here's where it's going:
1 - new dishwasher
2 - upgrade from the builder grade light fixtures. I have ordered and received all but the dining room chandelier so pics for that soon
3 - add cabinet base, sink and countertop to laundry room and enclose washer/dryer. Replace wire shelves.
4 - add bar area to dining area, complete with wine fridge. This includes both base and upper cabinets.
5 - build feature wall area for tv wall, complete with floating shelves/cubbies for electronics
6 - add coffered ceiling to office
7 - upgrade from builder grade mirrors in 3 bathrooms. Still deciding exactly what I want. I know guest bath will get a mirrored medicine cabinet because it's the smallest bath and has little storage
8 - replace wire shelves in walk in pantry. This will likely be the last project I do this summer. If we run out of funds before then I will hold off until next summer.

Sounds like a good list. Post pics of before and after!

FUN! It's amazing to me what a difference new light fixtures make. May I suggest another inexpensive thing that makes a big difference? Cabinet pulls in the kitchen and bathrooms!
Also, speaking of lighting, since you're doing a feature wall, you may want to consider some glass shelving with lighting above it. I mean, I don't know what your wall looks like but we replaced some wooden shelving with thick glass and added recessed lights above it and wow, it just looks 100 percent better and different.
Anyway, your list sounds fun! Like someone else said, post before and after pictures!
The wall for the TV has windows so not much space for anything other than a feature. I'm too short for shelves above. There will be a wall mounted cubby for the electronics, tho.
Just ordered my new weathervane for the garage to be put up when it is painted. It should start soon. And don't worry. Of course I'll have pics.
Oh, and here is the weathervane I ordered:
I also got a mount for it. I just hope the mount and the vane are compatible since they were made by different companies.
Cat
Super cute. We have a copper Crane weathervane, and we love it.
