I agree, that bath renovation slideshow was fantastic. And others made a good point - a shower is not only easy to use for adults, but it is also much easier for the elderly (or anyone with a physical disability) to get in and out of.
I think the best point of all is that if we plan on staying there for a long time, we might as well do what WE want. By the time we sell in 10, 20, etc years, the money spent on the bath won't make much of a difference. If we lose a few thousand dollars because or a few buyers because we don't have a master bath tub, oh well.
I do agree - I don't know a single person who takes a bath. But I watch all of the HGTV shows and it seems like EVERY person looking at houses HAS to have a bathtub and goes ga-ga over them. Who has the time in life to take so many baths?!
I love a big tub. It was the deciding factor in the house we bought (a jacuzzi tub). We looked at one nice house where there was no tub, and it was off the list--though it would have been a contender otherwise. I don't often have time to bathe, but I wouldn't buy a house that didn't have a nice tub.
