If you have a window above your kitchen sink, what do you see?

We have an unobstructed view to the east with a horse close to the house, juniper cedar trees, then open grazing land, and a couple of small mountains 40-60 miles out--and a whole lotta sky,

The backyard with bird feeders, trees, crepe myrtles, the patio, flower and vegetable gardens, a couple yard tables, the boat, the neighbor.

Ours is a bit more constricted. Field/lawn going down to the creek about 200' away, then our forest going up on the other side. Depending, we see the creek, or deer, or goldenrod & wildflowers, w/hickory, gum, oak, redbud, walnut trees. All ours. No neighbors visible or near.

Many of the old houses were built well down in the tiny hollows to protect them from the effects of tornadoes and winds. Ours is enough below the crest that we often hear strong winds above, but usually have lighter winds or breezes. That doesn't protect from microbursts though.

Harry I love your view!! So pretty and private.

Mine is the front yard/street. There is a little dogwood tree with a gourd birdhouse that the chickadees like. I put up cafe curtains for privacy (especially at night, with the lights on), but I'd much rather have no curtains so I could look outside more. It irks me that the kitchen is in the front and the dining room is in the back.

HOWEVER, I'm not really complaining, since my last house (for 15 years) had no window over the sink, just the wall. A sink window was a must-have when I was house shopping, and now I have a nice wide double window.

Curious, I am.
Do people REALLY spend time gazing out their kitchen sink windows?
Or is it more the case that "everybody else has one, so I do, too."?

I personally find that the kitchen sink + window is a waste.

A wooded 1/3 of an acre. In summer it's nice...just trees and shrubs. Leaves and light.
In winter, I see my neighbor's outbuildings.
