Hi all, wondering if anyone can tell if this electrical box is fan rated or not?

If those 2 screws actually go into wood and have some length to them it would likely work.

Thanks guys. I was hoping that someone would recognize the exact box one way or another, but realize it is covered in paint...

I will start to unscrew them tonight and see how secure it is. Any guidelines on how many screws and what size would make it secure enough?

2 ea #12 x2" long
I think you'll be OK if those screws are into a joist.

If the box is not a fan rated box with supports then the screws from the fan have to pass through the box and go into the wood directly.

The box cannot support the fan if it has no supports ,it can only act as a splice box with the screws anchoring and supporting the fan in the wood.

That either a 3-1/2" or 4" "Pancake" box. It appears to be attached with two "Hex/Phillips" screws. As long as the screws are at least 2" long your good- as long as they are relatively close to center on the joist.
