We are having a house built . In the Master Bathroom, the shower will be on the wall of the master Bedroom that is right next to the bed. We were wondering if having insulation in that wall would cut down on the noise when the shower is used.

Thanks for any advice

Melissa

It will help. There are also specific things you can do to the wall to create an air space so the sound doesn't travel directly thru the studs to the wall on the other side. Might not really be necessary. Insulation is cheap and will deaden the sound some.

Yes, it will- as an added measure, make sure to specify sound-deadening insulation. There is a difference. Also insulate the floor directly beneath the shower( if your not slab-on-grade)- as the shower runs and water hits the floor, the sound migrates outward; it will also knock down the noise at the drain.
Laundry rooms are another much asked for area for insulating.

Don't know if you have your project finished but if not do insensate the walls with sound dead. It some areas of the country it is code to do this when building new.

Yes I wanted to have this done when my house was built but the builder forgot to quote me on it and would have just overcharged for it anyway.
