I recently moved to my townhouse condo and I notice my double kitchen sink has this musky sewer smell whenever I wash lots of dishes.

I spoke with my property management (btw they are very good with repairs and services) but I was told when it comes to kitchen sink "Oh thats Las vegas sewer for you".
I was only advised to leave a couple of chopped lemon in the sink with the garbage disposal drainage.

Does anyone have that problem with their kitchen sinks and if so what solutions can you provide? The lemon works for a while to mask that sewer odour but c'mon.

Your sink should never smell except for possibly the waste disposal. That is what the p-trap is for. If the home is relatively new, check under the sink for a "pro-vent" which is a vent that allows air INTO the waste pipe and should close when no water is flowing. It may be faulty.

Sinks should never smell and your property manager is lying to you to avoid paying for a plumber. As mentioned, it sounds like a problem with the trap, but only a pro can tell for sure.

I had that in one of my bathroom sinks. All kinds of stuff gets trapped in there and causes bacteria to grow and smell like sewer gas....or it could be sewer gas. I fixed mine by dosing it with Liquid Plumber. I did it twice for good measure. You might have to do it every few months. You can Google it and get all kinds of plumbing tips on how to take care of it. Here's one: What to Do When the Kitchen Sink Smells Like Sewage | Done Plumbing & Heating

I repeat. The only way sewer gas can enter through a sink is if:
1) There is no trap
2) The trap is dry
3) There is a problem with the vent and usually that would be a vent under the counter. A clogged through-the-roof vent will cause a slow running drain and in the case of a double sink, will pull the water out of the other trap.

If you have a disposal, it could be that the rubber flange is filthy inside! That happened to me once, when we were out of town for a while....get a cheap brush, big enough to fit down the disposal...do NOT turn the disposal on!!!! But, you probably need to scrub the underside of that rubber thing....it's gunky and gag-inducing, but it sure helps!!!

Most of them can be pulled right out; throw it in the dishwasher once a month.

A couple times a year I pour some bleach down all my drains. And whenever I have limes or cilantro, I run them down the garbage disposal. I can tell the difference right away when I do the bleach.

Also if you have a tub or shower that you don't use often or at all you need to occasionally run water through them. If the trap gets dry they will stink too. Also there a small yellow balls at the grocery store called Plink that you put down the garbage disposal along with hot water. Just some options.
