I watch them all. We call them "house porn". I love (giggle at) the trifecta of granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors. It makes me giggle what people value in homes.

I must be the only one who can't stand Rehab Addict. Maybe it's because I'm not into the 'shabby-chic' style that the host seems to pursue, or maybe it's just her Northern City Vowel Shift accent that really annoys me.
Nicole Curtis of Rehab Addict is from Michigan. I'm from Michigan as well. Michiganders don't have accents. Everyone else does. ROTFLMAO
I like Rehab Addict, because the house is loved back to original, as closely as possible. I like Mike Holmes.
But my favorite (that hasn't been mentioned) was a PBS show with Ron Hazelton. I can't recall the name of the show. I liked it, because he would go around to houses and help home owners with their real-life problems. And at the end of the show, he would demonstrate how to do an easy fix-it (like taking the drain apart under the sink to fix a clog - small things that the average person could do to save money).
I have a total girl crush on Nicole from Rehab Addict. My husband is very forgiving on this. I just love how she gets so squeeeeeeee on old house detritus that many people would see as "trash" or "debris".
This Old House is the best, serious construction men at work.
Rehab Addict I like the way she keeps everything and her wanting to get the house to its original glory.
Flip or Flop, they are likeable, but I agree with another poster, who (Tarek) wears flip flops to a construction job site. LOL. Thier houses are though getting a bit same ole same. Christina seems to pick out the trend of the day for the flips, but unfortunately, trends of the day, get old really fast.....
Fixer Upper with Joanna and Chip, I will actually turn off. I don't like Chip. I just hate with a passion, silly men, he has all the qualities that I hate in a man, I just don't like his humor or sillyness......Joanna's famous line, "Im gonna open this up"
Property Bros, Love it, or list it I just wont watch at all.
I like property Bros, they are eye candy. I like Scott McGilvivrny(sp?) because (/sigh) and again he does good work and he talks like he knows his stuff.
Chip makes me laugh. Joanna is beautiful but I hate her "words" on the walls. And I hate shabby chic.
I watch a few different ones occasionally. It's interesting to me how much money people can cost themselves by either doing things wrong or by not paying attention before they buy.
Yes, the foundation has crumbled and the corner of the house is falling. The time to have noticed that was before purchase, not midway through your renovation. Not saying to not buy the house, just saying that the cost of foundation repairs should have been figured into the original budget before the offer was made on the house.
I was thinking same thing-- the home Inspectors for these homes are terrible!!! Maybe for the show?
Yes, but only This Old House, and Rehab Addict. (although my cable service doesn't have DIY network in its standard line-up, so it's hard to find Rehab Addict these days )
I avoid the flip for profit shows, and any program where the history and style of the house in not respected, the house is gutted, walls are torn down, and granite, a whirl pool tub and "open concept" are what makes homes great.
I love "Rehab Addict". That woman "gets" it. I wish she's come to Warren, Y'town OH. We have so many wonderful projects that await her!
"This Old House" pre-dates the "rehab home trend" on HGTV. Or should I say the "rip out and re-do clone trend".
I love rehab - when accompanied with RESTORATION - not DEMOLITION!
I would enjoy such programs more if the flippers and renovators had more appreciation for the solid craftsmanship and good design found in many older homes and would restore rather than rip 'er out and replace with whatever is trendy.
For those who appreciate old/older houses and restoration rather than renovation, check out this great online account of the work in progress involved in restoring the enormous, elaborate, historic, but terribly neglected 1894 Cross mansion in Emporia, Kansas:
The arrangement of the blog here is a little clunky - you may need to click your preference to read it from start to present. Be sure to allot a considerable amount of time once you go down this rabbit hole - it's hard to stop reading the adventures of Ross, the present owner, and marveling over the before and after pictures!
