My wife and I can't agree on a decent shower head for our new construction master bathroom.
This one is rated very highly on multiple websites, but my wife is worried that it's not "high-end" or "luxurious" enough for our new place, since it's small and utilitarian-looking.
Mind you, our new house is nothing really fancy, but we do want to make it semi-nice, since we are completely done with living with bottom-of-the-line crap in a rental house.
Any advice? Does anyone have a shower head that they just can't live without?
We stayed in a vacation rental with one of those “rainshower†heads which I enjoyed a lot, but I’ve also stayed in a ton of hotels with the shower head you show, and they were perfectly adequate. I agree, ask your wife what she has in mind. All I need is good water pressure and hot water.
I LOVE it! I love having a hand-held. It makes rinsing my hair easier and it makes cleaning the shower much, much easier. It has a magnet, so it just clicks in and is easy to take out. It also has a lot of different setting. My husband likes more of a rain-type flow, and I like a higher-pressure setting. So it makes everyone happy.
There seems to be a disconnect here. Ultimately, it boils down to- "you want it to work?" "Or look pretty?"
Besides, who's going to see it? Or does she do the friend, neighbor, relatives parade through the whole house- "...look at my luxurious showerhead!"
Joking aside, the head you reference is actually quite good. It's used in a lot of hotels- so chalk one up for quality/durability.
We don't know... maybe friends, family, neighbors and coworkers, even random strangers will be invited to take showers, and admire the shower heads
Anyway - are there any head showers that work AND look pretty??
I would first ask if they want a shower head that is stationary or hand held, or both. Shower panels could give the luxurious look too...

Then fancy aside, next question will be how hard is the water there, and if they are planning to install a water softener (otherwise those fancy shower heads might get clogged pretty quickly, and then what? especially when they are installed directly on the ceiling and PITA to clean). We also don't know anything about the water pressure. New house or not, pressure is important while selecting a proper shower head...

Thanks!
Whoa... the two of you are walking into a common trap. I don't care what you decide, it will have a fault that won't make it "right." Instead, sit down together and figure a maximum budget for the showerhead.
After checking around, present her with some options that you have found, and ask her to look for others and choose what she thinks the best three options are. Then, sit down together and choose as a couple which one of those three seems best.
I'll tell you right now that part of what is going on is that she wants and needs to feel she has input and part ownership of the project. If you make the final decisions, it ain't goinna be happy.

We have the Delta for 119.17 shown on that page and we love it. It's a rain shower with the hand held in the center with a magnet.
I use a shower head with a five foot hose so I can rinse myself and the shower off when I'm done. I prefer one with a removable pressure regulator. I like a little extra pressure and low flow don't cut it with me.
Gee, I can't say I've ever spent more than $30 for a shower head. But I just get in, take a shower, and get out. Never seen the need for a shower head to do anything other than spray water at me.
