Some other poster brought this up in another thread and I was just curious how many ladies put your purse on the floor or on the seat next to you or where ? and do you ever think how many germs we ladies could be spreading with our handbag . I use baby wipes or sanitary wipes to wipe the bottom of my purse off after I have been out all day . how many of you ladies do the same ?

If it is close friends/family and "if" I have it I leave mine on the counter in their kitchen. If not the I leave my purse in the locked in my car under the seat. Then I only need my keys. I only need my purse for driving and shopping so why would I need to bring it inside?

I need mine because I am a lipstick/Chap Stick addict and always have to put on more after eating/drinking. I rarely seem to have pockets, so I keep my purse with me.

I have this superstition an old friend told me about setting your purse on the floor, so I never do it. ("Purse on the floor, money out the door.") I usually hang it on a chair nearby that's not being used, out of the way but accessible to me.

I promise I'm not a weirdo.

In our area, at least in some of the commercial parking lots, there have been times when thieves target purses they see sitting in cars. They just break the window and grab the handbag. So I don't feel comfortable leaving it in the car.

And yes, I clean my purse. I get creeped out when a purse starts looking like a mobile compost bin.

Why would you set your purse on the floor/ground? Gross! As far as guests are concerned - the ladies generally park their luggage on the sofa in the spare bedroom next to the half bath.

I usually place my purse close to where I sit, but never on the floor. Not even in my own home.
I don't leave it in the car. A purse is part of my attire, why would I want to leave it in the car? My purse isn't some shopping bag.
BTW: while my purse is "clean", I would not dare to place it on the kitchen counter where the host might put her food. A chair or sofa seems to be more suitable.

I find an out of the way corner and set it down. Usually, there’s a collection of purses of other guests in one spot.
Out and about, in public places, I never put my purse on the floor. Ick.

We have a bench in our entryway that is a convenient place for a purse or two. If it's a large gathering, they go in the guest room right off of the main gathering area.

Ask the hosts where you can safely store it for a short time.

Huh... I honestly can't imagine being in a friend's home and being afraid to set my purse on the floor.

I mean... most of my friends, I'd be afraid it might get molested by the family pets or children if I set it on the floor... but I wouldn't be afraid of *germs*.

But then.... we're country folk, and we don't take our shoes off either! (Who knows, we might have to suddenly go outside to pee on account of Bubba and Jim deciding to take the toilet apart during dinner.) ((Bonus points if you understand the last reference from another thread!))

Despite my sense of security in my in-law's house I once had all of my Christmas money stolen from my purse by a new, drug-addicted SIL. Who'd have ever expected that?

Since then I've been careful about how much money I bring into anyone's home and the location of my purse at all times. While visiting the in-laws I left my handbag in the car.

I've always preferred a shoulder strap purse so often, if my visit isn't going to be long, I'll just keep it on my shoulder. Then, should I need anything from it, it's right there. And I've worn a shoulder strap for so long I'm not in discomfort from the habit.
