Think about how many homes there are from the asbestos era. If household exposure was a big risk, there'd be an epidemic of mesothelioma in every mid-20th century town in the country.
There will be no open bar. I'll pre-buy you one beer for your help in this thread.
I will be hoping that a pill is produced that will dissolve asbestos in your lungs. Maybe I can be saved.
I have such a pill. There is only one in the entire world. I will sell it to you for $10,000. Please ignore the "Centrum" printed on the pill, it means noting.

Which pills do you have? "The red pill, or the blue pill"?
To the OP: if the asbestos wrapper around the pipes is not breaking apart, then you should not worry so much about asbestos fibers. Let the inspector take a look at it and see what he says. Meanwhile relax.
Long ago before the government made it illegal, automotive brake shoes were constructed with asbestos, and each time you did a brake job, it was necessary to "Arc" the shoes, or grind them, to properly fit the arc of the brake drum. For may years I spent hours every day with my head in a cloud of brake shoe dust while arcing shoes.
We didn't know any better then, but it's been forty of fifty years since, and my lungs are still functioning well for a worn out old coot.
I wouldn't recommend doing any such thing again, but it isn't a death warrant if you do encounter a little.
So, what did your tests show?

Our house is 100 hundred years old and essentially unmodified so has not only asbestos (ceilings and composite siding) but lead paint.
We've had no problems nor have our 4 kids. Well, not unless you count that drooling thing. (JUST KIDDING!!!!!)
