I still get a yellow pages every year.

At a minimum, it weeds out the contractors who cant get their crap together to pay for an advertisement that only comes up one a year. At a minimum, that is huge! The terrible contractors cant even do that because they are not in business for a year.

i actually advertise on craigslist. it has a tremendous amount of traffic for what it costs. i have a substantial enough online presence and info out there that someone can find out more elsewhere. it makes financial sense for me to advertise there.

My contractor guy carries insurance and is licensed. He actually works mostly by himself and hires licensed subs.

If you call your local phone company, they will send you one for free. They are a pretty good resource to have around.
