I'm redoing our bathroom shower now - using a pre-fab shower pan and doing a fairly unique tile job up to the ceiling. I was amazed at how many options there were for a shower pan! Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're using what we have, but I later found a shower pan that you can tile into. This is so you don't have to build a shower pan from scratch. Wow - the finish product of those look truly custom, and are only about $200 more than a pre-fab finished shower pan.
To give you another idea not posted here yet. I have a product that I use a lot for custom installs its a solid surface product 3/8" thick for the walls and would be 1 piece per wall. Base can be custom or standard depending on your needs. base is made with same material 5/8" thick to 3/4" thick. ***Mod Cut***
