Definitely not during pollen season. Other times of the year we generally take them off, but if we're going from the backyard to garage we'll leave our shoes on across the kitchen floor. No shoes upstairs at all.

I do not wear shoes in the house, nor do my children. My husband does and it drive me nuts! It's hard enough keeping the floors clean and he drags stuff in all the time. Most of my friends don't wear shoes at their house or my house, either...

I don't like shoes in the house as everything you walk on all day long gets dragged inside. That goes for pollen, pesticides & chemicals, and bird poop, spider guts, etc - ick! Shoes come off OUTSIDE and stay outside.

My cream color carpets upstairs (hardwood down) look pretty darn good for their 4 years.

My kids think I am crazed about it, but I am NOT hardcore... I do NOT ask my guests to remove their shoes. Most do, as they are accustomed to doing so at their homes.

i've got no problems with shoe wearing in my house. i tend to wear shoes more often than not. if i've been tromping around in the mud or something i'll take my shoes off. sometimes i wear shoes in the house and sometimes i don't. all the kids that visit me are trained by their parents tho. their shoes come off at the door. not a rule here, but must be at their house. currently no one has their shoes on, but not because it's a rule or anything.

We don't wear shoes in the house, but like the above...we are not "hard core". If someone comes in with them, it's no big deal at all. For us, it's more about comfort than dirt.

This. We don't have any no shoes rule or anything and we only know one or two people that do. Just if they're super dirty or muddy we'll leave them on the deck until we can clean them. We also have a mud room upon entering the house from the side door and we keep a large bookshelf there for shoes, so the kids seem to naturally kick their shoes off in there when they come in the house.

When I was younger, it seemed like wearing shoes in the house was the norm.... guess that trend has shifted.
