It is a great price and I see Corollas all over the place. Toyotas reputation has been tarnished somewhat by all the recalls so Toyota is wheeling and dealing to move them. Corollas the 2010 model is getting a lot of complaints about the steering .... however my son LOVES Corollas. He loves the gas mileage and a good, reliable car to get from point a to point b. He opted this time for a Honda Civic for about 2k more than the Corolla.

Those little Toyotas are really hard to kill. Make sure yours include A/C and is automatic

We had a 98 Corolla and loved it -- given all the recent problems I'd be hesitant to buy a 09 or 10. I'm assuming the 11's will be better, given all the effort they're putting into making sure everything is right.

Personally, I'm buying Fords from here on out -- try to support American companies when I can (an sorry, I don't consider Government Motors to be an American company anymore), and their cars really seem to have been doing well recently. For that price, you could get the new Fiesta which will get over 40 MPG and has been hyped up quite a bit by consumer reports.

I had a Corolla and it was the best little car ever! My mother in law actually took her from us and then when it came time traded for a new one which they still have. Hondas are good too!

Can't really going wrong with a Corolla/Matrix.

Ac is usually standard. It might have a manual transmission. If you can stand that, better gas mileage, better performance, lower maintenance costs vs auto.

Remember 2010 = a 1 year old car now. I wouldn't be afraid to look at used 2010's with a <10K on the odometer. They might be less than $15k.

Hondas have more durable motors. You can neglect & beat the **** out of a Honda, but treat a Toyota that way and it will eventually click, clack & crap out on you. Toyota is still pretty hardy overall though.
