Hello All! I realize this topic has been talked about for upteem times on this board. But after reading countless posts for weeks, I would really appreciate your help in the matter. We may relocate to Houston for possible job opportunity. The company may help with the difference between house we currently own and one we buy in Houston. I am trying to gather information about house costs in good/safe areas. For work reasons, we need to have a house in "Houston" and not any suburbs. Once I get help with neighborhoods, I can try to find housing prices. Two scenarios I need help with are:

1. Safe/good neighboorhoods with great public schools (Elementary and Middle) - what are these neighborhoods?
2. Safe/good neighborhoods + private schools - again, what are these neighborhoods?

I realize this is a broad topic and we won't be able to afford houses in lot of the neighborhoods in scenario 1. But I still wanted to get a better picture about living in Houston so that we can negotiate better.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Ok, so Houston is HUGE.

Where would you be working? That would factor in to where you will want to live...you know, commute and all.

Too vague, if you have read the forum you should know that you need to provide work location and budget to get recommendations.

Job location is a must! And how long of a commute will you tolerate? As stated, "Houston" is huge and we can be talking hrs here!

I apologize. The work location would either be in Energy Corridor or Galleria area. The budget is not so much of a concern yet, as we are trying to figure out the safe/good neighborhoods first and then narrow down based on public schools vs private schools option.

Edit: We would prefer the commute to be 30-35 mins and less.

Where is, or what is, "Energy Corridor"? I've lived in Houston for decades, and I've never seen this listed as though it is a specific place (like the Galleria, for instance).

Keep in mind that Houston is a huge town, and commutes that are 1/2 hour or less are probably not the norm/average. Best of luck finding that "good school" and short commute time to and from work.

I'm not sure what part of the country you are from, but be prepared for high heat (90s-100s degrees) for the next several months.

The Energy Corridor is in H-Town.

I would assume the west side. If budget is not a consideration than I suppose River Oaks or Memorial are the best neighborhoods in Houston.

Energy Corridor is basically around I-10 from Kirkwood to Highway 6 and then down eldridge from I-10 to Briar Forest, loosely speaking.
