TSU is a rip off [current student].

Actually as far as TSU; its reputation is exaggerated though. It's more due to how finance is handle at the school and the the reputation of the surrounding area moreso than the education offered. I'd go with UH followed by UH Clear Lake with TSU last. You will find some of the best professors at TSU though; here you're not a number; you're actually seen as a person and the professor really care about you. That's my biggest positive about the school.

Btw, the school never lost accreditation; it was just on probation due to financial mismanagement; not academics.

I know, but Houston's unemployment rate is relatively low, and I just did not think it would take this long for him to find something. But perhaps he's just doing something wrong.
Calm down. It's OK. As an HBCU student, I hear crap like this all the time from people who have never stepped foot on campus. A school can also win back its accreditation.

These schools need to really learn to pick good administration and foucus on IT (very improtant) and raising their admission requirements. HBCUs are good schools but they should he doing better especially state funded institution's. These schools should be handleing their funds so much better. TSU should be the best public HBCU in the country and add more programs than just pharmacy and law..they should have a engineering program along with a nursing program hell maybe even a medical school and have way more doctoral programs...I just think the planning of these schools are not so good sometimes IMO.

I'm curious. OP, why are you going after an MS in accounting? Do you want to teach accounting at some point? Do the big accounting firms require MS in accounting nowadays versus just a regular bachelors? If you're doing it for better job potential, then seems to me MBA would work just as good and look better on your resume if you decide to pursue a career outside of accounting. Thoughts?

The MSA is really geared for students who are going to take the CPA exam. The MBA is kind of the general business masters. All of theBig 4 firms do accept just a Bachlors, but if you are looking to move up or even take the CPA exam this MSA is a better option for gettin ready for the exam.

How old are you? 10? And where do you live in Houston? You gotta be living under a rock at the bottom of a lake to not know about the numerous disasters TSU has had.

Alabama A&M is better off. Texas Southern is currently reminiscent of a late 90's Morris Brown. It's not that it doesn't have bright students and great programs, because it certainly does, but you can pretty much blame administration for its poor reputation.

Finances land TSU back on probation - Houston Chronicle

New president eager to start fixing TSU campus - Houston Chronicle

TSU law school urged to hike entrance standards - Houston Chronicle

Twice on probation ( Yes, I was wrong. "Only" probation, not suspension), graduation rate among lowest in nation, open admissions until 2008, spending scandal of 2006, several probes, had to get government involved because they didn't have a president or decision-making body for a very long time, almost under Conservatorship of Texas because nothing worked, substandard admissions for the law school ( well, and others ), bar passage rate also among lowest in nation etc. etc. Wondering they were never on probation for academics. But maybe they were, I don't know about that.

Nobody is exaggerating by saying TSU has had some major problems..or still has...as he wants to believe.
