Just curious - just don't see people harp on it anymore the way they do other areas nice areas of town. Is it because the area just didn't build up around it the way it did around the Woodlands? Is it because perhaps the nearby surrounding area is getting too much of ethnic mix (at the Deerbrook, mall etc) and that makes some people have second thoughts or uncomfortable? At one time it was one of the top suggested places and I just don't hear that anymore so just wondering why people don't recommend it any more. Had a co-worker move from nearby 1960 and 59 because she got tired of hearing the bass music at night and all the "wheels" and wanna be thugs at Deerbrook - thought that seemed like an odd reason to move - she'd only been there a year plus I haven't heard any others complaining about the area.

Yes, I'd say it is a desirable place to live... very much so.

The only thing is that it is "built out" no more new houses so no longer in the news???

People regularly recommend Kingwood on here. Also Deerbrook is Humble not Kingwood. Very different demographics. There is still some new construction in Kingwood.

I see mostly the Woodlands, Sugarland and Katy as the places people recommend and that people inquire about most often. Kingwood just sort of turned into another burb that people recommend when it is convenient to an employer but just don't see it mentioned as a "hot" place or on a regular basis much on the forum. Then when my co-worker was griping so much thought that maybe that was it of course just guessing.

Kingwood is a nice place to live. Many energy professionals who work by the airport or in the plants on the east side live there.

I personally do not see the attraction of Sugarland or Katy. There are some nice neighborhoods there but they are surrounded by not so nice areas. I think Kingwood is the best area in Houston and if I had it to do over I would be living there. I also like the Woodlands, the Champion area and the area around HP. However, I like very large, established areas with lots of trees.

Sugarland and Katy aren't my personal favorites either - but they seem to be most often recommended perhaps the newness of it all.

I just think more regular message board posters live in those areas so they get more recommendations.

Kingwood is getting somewhat more blue collar than it was previously but it still is a nice place overall with the trails, deed/zoning restrictions, trees, etc.

The only thing that is lacking though is retail although with Earthquest opening up in New Caney, that might change in the near future.
