Answer these questions, and we can quickly help you pinpoint the best area of town for you.
- Where will you be working?
- What's your budget?
- Are you looking for a house to rent/own, or an apartment?
- Do you have transportation or do you require public transportation?
- How important are schools/Do you have school aged children?
- Do you prefer a more diverse community, or more conservative community?
Husband and I will be relocating to Houston within the next few months. We're looking for some advice about neighborhoods to focus on during our house-hunting trip.

- Husband will be working downtown.
- We'd like to keep the budget at or below $210k.
- Looking to own a home.
- We have transportation, however, husband thinks he'd like to ride a commuter bus to work and back.
- We do not have children at this time. Hopefully soon.
- We would probably prefer a more conservative community.

I've found lots of homes on the HAR website that I like, however, I don't know anything about the neighborhoods or areas they are in. So far some of our favorite houses are in: Pearland, Tomball, Sugar Land, Richmond, Katy, Humble, Spring, Kingwood, Cypress and Copperfield.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

I would recommend Katy, Cypress or Sugarland. What else are you looking for in an area, besides a conservative community?

Thanks for the response, Beto!

Mostly, we're just looking for someplace quiet with a bus commute under an hour to downtown. We're hoping to find a home with a private pool, as well as an area pool. The community doesn't even have to be all that conservative -- we just want to fit in and feel welcome.

On the topic of bus commutes - do most areas have some type of an express bus? Some of the bus routes I've seen have over 80 stops, and would take nearly two hours to get downtown! Is that normal, or am I looking at the wrong type of routes?

Thanks!

No, that is not normal. The "express" buses leave from "Park & Ride" locations. Here is the website for Houston Metro:
