I think Smashburger is a bit better than In-N-Out. Five Guys is on In-N-Out's level and the rest are far down the list.

In-N-Out beats just about everything on freshness/value for the money.

The best one is in the loop, 3rd ward.

But yeah, Houston doesn't have a lot of Timmy Chans. I rarely see them.

Just when I thought Californians would never infiltrate Houston en masse due to the oppressive humidity and flat topography...

I suppose this means that every major city in Texas is now fair game.

I doubt it. Every transplant I met from California in San Antonio loved home prices and hated absolutely everything else. They returned in droves within 2 years. Very few stuck it out. Most of my days working with them involved endless gripes about the heat, humidity and tex-mex.

"Everything is better in California".

And so they left.

On the bright side In & Out is a great burger. Decent kitchen system and fresh. I can order my burger using the "secret menu" and get exactly what I want. Best part is you wont have to go to California to have one.

In reality, almost* everything is better in California except for taxes and politics.

My roommate's older brother, who was born and raised in Phoenix, lived in San Antonio for a couple of years. He hated it and has since moved to Chicago.

San Antonio, like the other major cities in Texas, isn't anything to write home about.

Most Cali folks are transplants themselves but they oddly "forget" that after a generation or two

especially if your black....all the black Californians have roots from small town Louisiana or Texans...the biggest gang leaders and drug dealers in Cali come from Tyler, Texas and Monroe, Louisiana

IMHO, the sooner they move back to California, the better.

Most folks who "had to" relocate are going to gripe, no matter what. Folks who move because they wanted-to will focus on the good that drew them here in the first place. Problem: People generally relocate to Texas for work-related reasons these days, and that does not create a warm-and-fuzzy bond....

I had in n out yesterday! But, I was coming from Oklahoma and stopped in Dallas on the way back home. Still tasted delicious after 4 hours.

If whataburger could have service friendly people like in n out and make their burger more consistent, them two would be at it all the time.

For me it's still wb>in n out>smash>5guys>everything else
