Still there as far as I know. We lived right around the corner Campbell/Westview until two years ago.

Saturated Houston Burger Market

There are several retailers I'd love to see set up in Houston but they have all targeted Dallas, San Antonio and Austin first. They've been in those cities successfully for a couple to several years with no sign of coming to Houston.
That article doesn't make sense. The DFW market is just flooded with burger places as the Houston market and In-N-Out opened in the DFW market. DFW has multiple locations of all the more premium brands like In-N-Out, Smashburger, Mooyah Burger, Beck's Prime, Liberty Burger, HopDoddy, Jake's, Keller's, Five Guys, Twisted Root, Red Robin, etc, etc and all the cheaper Whataburger, Wendy's, Burger King, McDonalds, JackintheBox, etc, etc, etc.

The sad thing is that my mom wanted to buy a ranch style home across on the other side of 10 in the Memorial area, but my dad didn't want to deal with the huge yard he'd have to take car of, so they bought a townhouse on the north side of 10. We all know what a mistake that turned out to be. lol. The townhouse probably hasn't increased in value much, while that ranch house on the 1/3 acre probably has been torn down with four homes on the lot that are each a million plus.
Yeah, but think of the property taxes on that house. They could have sold it though. I've always lived on the north side of I-10, and did the same thing when we moved to Katy. We bought a house just north of I-10 off of Mason Road in a very nice neighborhood, but it was zoned to Katy High back then and now it's zoned to Morton Ranch. I will say I and my kids are very happy at Morton Ranch, probably more than we would be at Katy so it turned out well.

Nowhere is flooded with restaurants like Houston. We have restaurants near every neighborhood and all over town. The D/FW metro has zoned areas, so while they have all those restaurants they still aren't nearly as flooded as we are.

I did eat at a diner type place last time I was in Fort Worth that had an excellent burger. I'm not sure what it was, but I looked up diners and Fred's Texas Burger sounds familiar. That was some good food, and completely surprising since we just stopped in on the road back to Houston.

Part of the reason Houston is largely ignored is because when the rest of the country thinks of Texas, Dallas comes to mind first (everyone thinks it's the big kahuna in Texas), then Austin. Houston just isn't on the minds of the rest of the country, so typically we are the last to get trendy restaurants, retailers, etc. Houston has never done much of a job selling itself.

Honestly, pretty seriously accurate post. I'm new to Texas (only a year) and as an outsider always thought of Dallas as true Texas and Austin as trendy Texas. Houston never came to mind except as a hot, humid place with big oil refineries spewing flames into the sky.
