The city of Houston joins Austin and El Paso with petitions calling for the secession from Texas, provided that state secession is successful. The Houston petition reads that secession-minded Texans “are mentally deficient and [we] do not want them representing us. We would like more education in our state to eradicate their disease.”

White House ‘Secede’ Petitions Now Filed In All 50 States, Reach Over 660,000 Signatures

This whole thing is just a mess.

If there is one thing all the secession talk has achieved is that it has provided proof that the USA is a failed, divided, fake country (in terms of being "united").

Amen

Could we get another petition going to boot some of these people out of the state?

You forgot Dallas. There is a petition for Dallas to secede from Texas if Texas leaves the US.

What I can't believe is that anyone is taking all this seriously. Everyone surely knows it's never going to happen so it's just a demonstration of their dislike of the outcome of the election. Blowing off steam.

The "city of Houston" didn't do anything. People can do what they want, including ridiculous petitions for secession. Please don't say "The CITY" did anything. This makes it sound like our city government petitioned for this.

And what does "This whole thing is just a mess" mean? It's just a bunch of time-wasting petitions. The only mess is the mess of time being wasted.

Words are important. Choose them carefully.

No one takes these petitions seriously. The fact you can be a German citizen in Germany and "sign" for the state of TX to secede should be proof positive of that. Really hope Obama does some press conference and just gives everyone the finger

660,000 people (any people, from anywhere in the world) out of how many Americans are in this country is nothing. It is simply the deadly combination of the age of the internet and angry white people

as far as the handful of wingnuts that are serious secessionist. you can choose to self secede. I suggest you do this. Clearly the majority of people don't want to, but if you want to simply renounce your US citizenship and all the benefits it entails. It is not that difficult of a process

but the more this kind of stuff is posted around the internet the more we have to hear about it.
