The aquarium??? Thats a restaurant with aquariums to view, not an actual aquarium as an attraction like you may find in other cities.

I really don't understand why folks keep calling that restaurant an "aquarium" because its really not. Houston doesn't have an aquarium.

Houston has an aquarium, it's called the Gulf of Mexico. Or do you guys want it enclosed in glass with a $30 admission charge with a 19 year old tour guide screaming at you to keep your hands off the glass.

Yes I would rather that than risk being stung by jellyfish and bitten by a shark. Are you talking about the ship channel?

If entertainment venues here become concentrated in one or two areas, the traffic and parking problems in those areas will be even worse than then they are now.

What I like about living in Houston is that we make it hard for tourists (like the OP) to find where we all hang out.

Would a central entertainment district (like the French Quarter in NOLA or Times Square in NYC) be nice? Maybe, sure. I've been to the French Quarter in NOLA and absolutely loved it.

But guess what? If I lived in New Orleans, I would absolutely HATE that everyone goes there and I'd basically have no choice but to avoid it. Does that sound petty? Sure, but honestly who wants to deal with out-of-town drunks in your own city?

So no, Houston is not lacking at all in this department; and to answer the original question, yes it's definitely starting booming even more with the influx of new people -- just look at the revitalization we're experiencing downtown. I actually brought a friend bar-hopping downtown this Friday and he was floored at how much there was to do -- he's new and works downtown, and everyone always told him that downtown was dead at night (yeah, like a bunch of middle-aged accountants would really know?...) I told him that the Houston nightlife scene is nomadic...if you don't know where to go (or don't have anyone who can tell you), you'll never find it.

We definitely make it hard to find where we party, and whenever a tourist asks me where we they should go, I always point them to the Galleria so they can stay out of my hair.

Keep in mind that I'm talking from the point of few of a father with little kids.
That's why I mentioned the "Aquarium"
