Hello there,

Do home builders clean up the concrete before installing dry-wall and flooring (carpet, tiles, wood)?

The wife and I stopped by our home to see the progress and we noticed raccoon droppings in between the walls and on the stairs. The builder was with us and he said they would clean it up before installing the dry-wall but I wanted to know if this is something they truly follow through on.

Is there any way to ensure the cleaning is done? Also, how much "cleaning" is really done prior to dry-wall and flooring?

Thanks!

I often show up on late Friday afternoons. Otherwise, insulation between walls include beer cans.

They started building my house in July. I have been there at least 3 times a week and every Saturday or Sunday. I make sure they are cleaning up and made sure all bottles, cans, plates, etc were removed before sheetrock went up.

You have to stay on them but that will depend on your builder as well.

I have been happy with their housekeeping for the most part but have had to say something a few times..

I was talking to a realtor and he made a very insightful statement: It doesn't matter which builder you use or how much your house costs - the actual construction will be done by illegals. So yes, expect used plates from the roach coach and beer bottles/cans in the walls.

I would say very little cleaning. I visited my homesite nearly every day and personally removed paper plates, etc from the walls prior to insulation/drywall. A co-worker stopped by his new build when the carpeting was going in and they were putting everything down right over the dirty, unswept slab.

Depends on the construction supervisor mainly. During construction of our home I noticed several drink bottles crammed in the roof trusses and a bunch of trash in several empty spaces in the walls. But before they did drywall all the trash was gone. They also swept really well before doing flooring.

So right about the construction manager. Also, if they know you are having a pre-sheetrock inspection, they clean better prior.

If it was Coke or pepsi brand I might have been OK, but I felt really bad seeing 'Fiesta' brand containers in there
