When we come back to Houston, these are some of the places we try to fit in:
Fine dining:
Brennans
Americas
Marks
Casual:
Goode & Co. BBQ
Goode & Co Hamburgers
Guadalajara
Amazon Grill (owned by Americas people)
Auntie Pasto's
Rajun Cajun
Treebeard's
Barry's Pizza (deep dish)
Breakfast food:
Kolache Factory
Shipley's (melt in your mouth freshly made plain glazed..mmm)

I could go on and on and like a lot of these places others have mentioned, but these are our top ones (you can't do fine dining every meal even if you could afford it).

Mmm fried chicken! Next time you're in the Galleria area, you MUST check out the Palestinian fried chicken at Al Aseel on Richmond and Dunvale. It's one of the best in town!

Gatlins for BBQ

Lankford Grocery & Market (It sounds like a grocery store but is not) for the best burgers in town. It was feature in one of those TV shows.

I've been meaning to go there.

Speaking of fried chicken, some of the best in Houston is at the Scott St Frenchy's. I've tried the other locations, and they aren't nearly as good for whatever reason.

Other places to throw out:
Revival Market
Hubcab Grill (burgers)
Petrol Station (burgers)
Ouisie's Table
Chez Nous
Corkscrew BBQ

If you go to Lankford, go for the enchiladas. The burgers are overrated. The meat is just average. It's a big burger with some good condiments, but there are a dozen or more places with better burgers (in therms of the patty). Keep in mind that it's cash only (at least it was) and it's a little place that gets packed for lunch, so go early or late. IMHO, the main draw is it's charm, legend and quirkiness (not to mention being featured on tv once). It's a place you probably would enjoy going to, but if it had to stand on its food only, it wouldn't pull the crowds it does.

Thank you for posting that link. A few there I've never known, and many I have yet to try.
