We are about to move to the area but we have no idea where to start looking for a house.

My husband works at Hobby airport and we are looking for something that is not too far or a big commute, schools are important as we have a daughter starting kindergarten

We are renting and our budget is $1,500 ...

Any help would be very appreciated

If anyone know of a realtor that would help us find a house that'd be great also.

Thanks in advance

Sugarland would be the longest commute for him, and housing is likely going to be most expensive there.

Pearland and Friendswood would both be easy commutes. Clear Lake wouldn't be too bad, but I personally hate traffic on I-45, so I chose not to live there.

All of these areas have good schools. What else are you looking for in a community?

Pearland may require tolls. From Hobby to Friendswood you'll still deal with I-45 traffic for a couple more years, which is a huge mess due to construction. Something off of Clear Lake City Blvd/FM 2351 might have what you're looking for but if you want a decent house you might need to up your budget to $1,800+.

Pearland doesn't require tolls to get to Hobby Airport and the schools are awesome. I have a second grader to be and a kindergartener to be and we have been more than pleased with the schools. I'm very familiar with the schools and where you should live to be zoned to good schools. I'm a realtor. You can contact me at gregorywesley @ pearlandnation . com.

Only requires tolls if you want to use Beltway 8

Sugar Land is the nicest, but the longest commute. Pearland is the worst, but the closest. Friendswood and Clear Lake are in the middle.

What do you mean Pearland is the worst?

It is the poorest of the four you have listed. The more expensive the area the better the area and schools are. You pay for location. Location location location. At 1500 a month I would consider living in the city and trying to get zoned to a good elementary school. Though I have a feeling that will run you close to 1700-1800. Hobby is a fairly fast commute from the city.

Pearland is not bad. We rented a nice house there for a year in silverlake in a nice gated community. It usually took us 20 mins to hobby.
I donno anything about clear lake or Friendswood, but we preferred to buy in sugar land which would be too far for you commute to hobby.

Have you checked out League City? Good schools, and I think you could get something decent with your $1500/month budget. I live in Friendswood, and for $1500, you're going to end up in something old and not really updated. I looked on har.com in Friendswood ISD, and there was one decent rental (still in an older home, but it has been updated, and the neighborhood is decent) for $1700. We love it here in Friendswood, but the schools in League city are also good, and you will be able to find something nicer within your budget. Try 77573 as the zipcode to search League City.
