FWIW, I got pulled over more times in the one year I lived in Texas than I did in the 16+ years I lived in Florida and California.

Welcome to Texas.
Might be true for suburbs but not for city of Houston.

This is some of what you have written, there is a lot more but I just got bored reading.

1 "Texas is a Police state"
2 "Texans dislike Californians"
3 "fracking-induced earthquakes in Fort Worth"
4 "Houston have the *most uncomfortable* summers of any metro area in the US"
5 "Every major city in the Northeast, West, and South/Central Florida plus Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul is better that Houston"
6 "scenery of Phoenix is much more alluring than the scenery of the Houston area"
7 "Texas *now* has the worst license plate of any state in the nation, hands down"
8 "Houston--dirty, poor air quality, high crime, lots of ghetto areas, lack of emphasis on fitness/nutrition, no one cares about nature, too many religious zealots, lots of covert racism, bad roads"
9 "Houston's warts--dirty, polluted, no zoning, poor road conditions, ghetto/redneck culture, high humidity, hurricanes, etc.--are more highly visible than those of the other TX cities"

I don't know what happened to you in Houston, whatever it was it must have been something horrible.
Can I simply dislike a city, or is that against the law [in Texas], too?

I lived in Plano for a year and have traveled to Houston on numerous occasions for business, so I ain't just whistlin' Dixie, either.

Yea, but to sit on a particular forum and go out of your way to spew your hate of Houston or Texas implies that you have a strong reason to dislike a place. If that be the case, I think we'd all be curious to read what it was and why you chose this post vs another to make your point, otherwise no one will take you seriously. Clearly, you've come up with a certain set of criteria that deems a city or state ideal, and Texas doesn't fit it, but has it ever occurred to you that your opinions may not be true for everyone? Perhaps, not even true for the large majority of posters on here?

Lastly, if your response to me is that you don't care what others think, then why even make inflammatory posts here at all? Granted I'm not saying you will say that, but that seems to be the common theme when someone is called out for inflammatory remarks.

That cracks me up! It was recently pointed out to me that almost daily I make some comment about "Well in Houston it looked like this," or "In Texas that would be against the law." I started to think about it and was horrified so now I have all my friends in LA on lookout for when I make a comparison comment. The same goes for when I am in Houston and say, "Well in California..."

I didn't realize it was such an annoying behavior until I worked with this lady from Chicago who went on about it the last two years until the entire place agreed she needed to go back to Illinois... and she did. Not everywhere is for everyone and that's ok.
