Hi,

I tried looking up on internet but couldn't find the details. Does anyone know when will grand parkway open? I am interested to know the segment which goes from I-10 to I-45? I am not sure what these segments F1, F2 and G are? Also how wide is it going to be (how many lanes). I hope its not like westpark toll way.

Thanks

It's going to be exactly like westpark tollway; ez tag only and costly, 2 lanes on each side, and no feeder roads, with the exception that it's going to be decently wooded in some parts, which I guess will be a refreshing change from feeder rd/obnoxiously large signs hell. They've left room to widen each side by a line, but I just don't understand not doing it now when you know it's gonna be needed in 10 years time. Originally they were supposed to be completed by Oct 2015 but now it's expected early 2016 by February or March. Someone might have a more exact updated timeline than what I can find online.

Yeah 2 lanes of nightmare coming up. It was supposed to open by end of this year but with all the rain delays it will most likely be Feb or March 2016.

we'll see if its like WP. the last section of GP to open has been great and smooth for 100mph cruising.

Right but it's 2 lanes on each side and has limited use since it only goes out to a part of Cypress/Waller that hasn't built out yet fully with residential like Katy/Cinco Ranch has, although it will if you give it time. Traffic and ridership will see a significant bump once it opens all the way to 59 N and will continue to get wore until it's almost like wp. I don't think the traffic in the morning rush hour will be as drastic as it isn't going into town like wp does, but it will be significant and an issue in the very near future.

I used Segment E once, and I thought it was pretty awesome.

I did find it odd that I was doing the speed limit. Usually, I'm a speeder, but when the limit is 80, that works for me. I did have one guy blow past me doing around 100, but he was in a Porsche, and as long as he does his regular maintenance and keeps the tires at the right specs, he should be good. My fear is the person driving a car that isn't mechanically suited for that speed.
