Weather forecasters way over hyped this storm saying we would get 6 to 8 inches here in the Meyerland Willowbend area in the last 24hrs we have not even gotten 1 1/2 inches yet. Most of the has been like 50 to 60 miles west of Houston or close to the beltway & 45 or more north. This storm was over hyped because of last yrs flood it has turned into a dud like last yrs tropical storm.

You gotta get your weather from Eric Berger's Hype-Free Forecasts:

Don't listen to Houston's meteorologist, they don't know crap. I stopped trusting them a long time ago.
Usually when they hyped people about rain, nothing happens. When they don't say anything, the next morning is flooded all over the city.

Them over hyping a storm = it's fine.

Weather forecasting is done by supercomputers. That's how complex it is. And even then, as we see here, it isn't always right. Also I know people just 2 hours from the Houston area that were hit pretty bad. So I am sure the storms lived up to their rep in other areas.

I think you may have been a bit premature to assume this weather event was over...

Ouch. Just looked at the radar and yes, this was very premature.

To be fair David Paul did say the high rain totals could occur anywhere in the area depending on where the storms train. There seemed to be a lot of storms sitting over the western half of Southeast Texas as well as the immediate coast. I'm just thankful we didn't get the intensity of the storms that hit Northeast Texas and the Shreveport area.

Isn't it great to have a job where you can be wrong often and scare the heck out of people and still keep your job?

4.25" by me in Cypress overnight, 5.25" total in 24 hrs. I sure hope this thread is the only thing OP is premature about because the forecasters certainly got it right.
