How much video do you have to watch to get over 1TB in a month? I do not do Torrent, by the way.

Not sure, I never pay attention to my usage since I have the U-450 package. Here's an interesting article approximating how long it might take:

https://www.consumerreports.org/tele...-1TB-data-cap/

It sounds like more than 5 hours of Netflix per day could put you at the cap. But if you are streaming 4K content it could be less than that.

From the article at your link:
"The prospect of a U.S. household reaching 1TB of monthly use is still several years away," says Michael Greeson, co-founder and director of research at the Diffusion Group (TDG), a research and advisory group. "Even heavy Netflix households are lucky to hit 250GB to 300GB a month, so there is still a lot of headroom."

I was paying $180/month and getting all of the digital channels and premium, 400 mb/s internet, and the home alarm service from Comcast. I looked into cutting costs and it just didn't seem worth it:

Comcast 100-150 mb/s - $60
Netflix - 15
Hulu - 15
HBO Now - 15 (gotta have GoT)
Disney - 15 (eventually it'll get there)
Amazon - 15 (even though an argument could be made that we would've bought prime anyway)

So, not counting Amazon, we're at $120/month without the ability to record content, slower internet, and no alarm.

I just don't see the value. Granted, I like watching movies, and hate spending $10/pp at the theater, which is why I'm okay with splurging on the premium channels.

I dunno, to each their own I suppose.

Of course to each their own, but why anyone would feel the need to have Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, all at the same time, makes no sense to me at all. Any one of these three services has more content than a person can watch in a year, for sure. It is like making reservations at three different restaurants, all on the same night. It makes no sense to do that.

You do not have to have all of these services at the same time.

You dont need to “record content”. You realize right that all the apps are on demand and all shows are available at all times. Also you exaggerated the price of all the apps. Hulu for example is $6/month not $15. Even their priciest plan is only $12. So real breakdown:

Internet $60
Netflix Standard $13
Hulu $6
Disney+ $7
HBO $15 (we only subscribe while GOT is on and watch all their other stuff during that time)
Amazon Video - free with Prime subscription but dont get Prime for amazon video it hardly has any good shows

Total: $101 during GOT $86 after GOT so you save $1,112 a year versus cable

If you can survive without the internet then your saving

I lived in a place where internet was $90 a month by itself so you never got ahead

They show different titles. We have all three, and watch something on each of them.
