Have you guys heard of Corinthian Pointe?

The neighborhood, southwest of Reliant Park in the Hiram Clarke area of Houston, is the largest subdivision developed by a nonprofit group.

Reverend Kirbyjon Caldwell, pastor of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church, teamed with some homebuilding groups to establish the subdivision. Several homes were sold at below-market prices.

A CVS, a Walgreens, a Houston ISD elementary school, and a YMCA opened to accommodate the neighborhood.

The Houston Independent School District zoned schools are: Jean Hines-Caldwell Elementary School (Opened fall 2005), Dowling Middle School, and Madison High School. The elementary school is named after Jean LaNell Hines-Caldwell, Kirbyjon Caldwell's mother. Prior to the opening of Caldwell ES, the neighborhood was zoned to Anderson Elementary School in "South Westbury."

Several media outlets, including the Houston Chronicle, made articles about the subdivision. Here is an example: http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/ar...d=2006_4107813

http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/s...07/focus1.html is a Houston Business Journal article about the subdivision, while http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/s...25/focus1.html is about faith-based development.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas also has an article http://www.dallasfed.org/ca/bcp/2001/bcp0102.html

I've heard of it. The schools in the area aren't too great. The area is "ok" I guess.

Also, the area has a moderate amount of retail - not the amount seen in richer areas in Houston.

For grocery stores in the immediate area:

Grocery:
* Fiesta: 12355 Main

(Kroger, H-E-B, and Randalls have locations in the Meyerland/Westbury areas that are somewhat close to the area)

Pharmacies:
* CVS: 5510 West Orem (Closest 24 hour is 4451 West Fuqua near Madison High School)
* Walgreens: 5501 West Orem (Closest 24 hour is 5300 N Braeswood in the Willow Bend area)
