We are from Singapore and will be relocating to Houston this October. We are looking for a house in gated communities. I work in zip code 77041 Westway Park Blvd and hope to find a place nearby - West and Northwest. We also want a nearby shopping mall (supermarket more important) and clinic. Would appreciate any advice. Our budget is about US 200k.

I think you should find a house for rent first. Cypress Mills subdivision looks like a good place to start. My sister and her daughter lives there and loves the area. My other sister, her family and my mother is in Cypress too. They're southeast asian BTW. If you're looking to have better access to asian food supplies you should probably look closer to the SW side

There are not many gated communities in Houston and 200k probably wouldn't get you into one, most start in the mid 200s.

I live in a gated community and bought my 2600sqft house for $190k but I'm in the SW Houston (Alief) where we are better off limiting traffic into our subdivision. Also most of our HOA dues goes to security and police BTW.
