I currently belong to the MAC...but I'm changing over to Lifetime Fitness at the CityCentre when things are more finished over there. I'm an avid spinner and they offer more classes and it just feels lighter and brighter in that gym. More classes at more hours.

We enjoyed MAC but stopped going after I got pregnant with my first. I've been contemplating going back.

I've got a work at home dad in my cul de sac, but other than that I'm the only one on my street. I know there are a lot of stay at home moms in the neighborhood, though, and there's an active moms group. I haven't done much with them yet because of unpacking and the holidays, but when my oldest goes back to school I plan to get more involved.

On Halloween, the Mom's Group organized a party for all the families with kids in the neighborhood. Everyone got together to socialize, and then went trick or treating together. Most people seemed to know each other - we'd only been in the neighborhood for a couple of weeks at that point. There was a great turnout and everyone really enjoyed it. Most commented that activities like this were a new occurance in the neighborhood, and everyone was very excited about all the new young families moving in.

We looked at the MAC but didn't like it. My husband is a big tennis player, so we joined Westside Family Fitness over on Wilcrest, which I can't say enough good things about... everyone in the family loves to go there!

I really appreciate the feedback about Thornwood. I found the information about the Memorial/West Memorial boundaries very useful (Thanks Easily Amused)! Since I'm not a Houston native, it helps to get any information that I can't get off of HAR. I'll definitely keep Thornwood on my list! It sounds like there are a lot of happy residents.

Hi Meleton, I will post on here regarding my visits to the schools and my impressions on them, as well. Best of luck in your search!

Ok, I retract my statement of "no whispers of rezoning." There are whispers from the registrars, however the district denies.

Hi EA, I saw your post about this and immediately phoned MMS. They denied having any knowledge of this or having heard anything about it. Do you know what this would mean for MMS and SF? I am still on the fence, we haven't made a move yet. I did visit both NOttingham and SF and found them to be about what I expected. I think my kids would do fine at both. However, my first choice continues to be MMS and Wilchester or Rummel Creek. Having been on HAR constantly, I have noticed sales seem to be very slow and prices are dropping by about 20k over night in my price range (400k and under). We are being very slow and cautious probably much to the consternation of our very patient real estate agent. Anyway, PLEASE let me know if you hear anything else about the rezoning. Thanks!

Well, I talked to someone this morning at MMS, in a postion who would know about these things. I just had a basic question about enrolling from a certain street address and this information was volunteered. They told me to call the district if I wanted an answer before March. The district immediately wanted to know the person's name at MMS and denied knowledge of a zoning change..

She kept on saying March and she shouldn't be talking about it, and that I should call the district about it. So, she had heard something. I'm sure the district called MMS to straightened her out, even though I refused to give them a name. But, she seemed pretty sure zoning was up in the air for certain streets.

IF it did occur, there would be a serious uproar, but at the end of the day what can you do? More Wilcehster kids would head over to Spring Forest, which would be good for Spring Forest. Some parents would move. Some would go private for middle school. others cram into Cornerstone and Westchester.

Thanks, EA. This is a very interesting development. I will be on the lookout for more info on this.
