There seems to be a nice area south of I10, north of Clinton and east of Jensen. I didn't even connect it with 5th ward at first since I mostly think of it as solely north of I10. My girlfriend and I found a great place right in a gated are, but I'm just not totally sold. Any help??

All of midtown , east end and other areas being revitalized are in the Wards. I wouldnt stay away just because it is the 5th Ward...Make your decision based on how safe you feel living, walking, going to the store in the area.

This. Don't go on the perceptions of people who don't even go to these places. If you feel safe, go for it. Somebody's gotta do it.

I've noticed more and more activity in that section of Fifth Ward over the last two years, and I mean along the freeway and then south towards Clinton. Spotted a couple of new townhomes that had been built along Waco just across the freeway from Frenchy's chicken.

Lots of available land, too.

You know, this made me curious so I went to the crime maps to look this area up. According to last month, it doesn't really look all that bad there - the worst is on the other side of 10. I wouldn't walk outside holding my wallet in the air singing "I'm in the money" but you shouldn't have to wear riot gear when you go out. Just be careful like you would anywhere.
