I am moving to Kingwood with my wife and 1 year old child in late June. We will be working in Kingwood. On one hand we hear that Kingwood is one of the safest areas in Houston and its really beautiful there. We are looking for affordable rent. However, when looking at apartment ratings online, we see most of them have poor ratings, people are referring to them all as ghettos and how the areas are run down, rat infested, drug dealers, and high crime rate. This is conflicting information. How safe is Kingwood. And are there particular areas in Kingwood or particular apartment complexes that we should avoid? Anyone know anything about the apartments Kings Crossing, Elm Creek, Elm Grove, Harbor Cove, The Preserve apartments, etc?

Also, we will need a day care. Nothing fancy. Just a reliable day care service with responsible people that can take care of the kid while we are at work. Does anyone know what daycare centers charge in Kingwood? Thanks for your help

There is always more crime in apartment complexes no matter what the area. Kingwood is very safe and there is very little crime and most of that is your basic property crime that you can never get away from. There was one really bad apartment complex in Woodland Hills but it was recently bought out and remodeled with most of the shady types kicked out.

Also check out the apartments on Sandy Forks. I've heard they are a real value.
